Brown pelicans coated in heavy oil
wallow in the Louisiana surf.

"I remember a time of chaos,
ruined dreams, this wasted land...
when the world was powered
by the black fuel..."

The Road Warrior, 1981

  1. My heart is happier seeing pictures of live sand dollars, but while the pics of the oil-soaked pelicans makes me heart heavy, I think we all need the reminder of what the hand of man--when misguided--can do. Thank you for sharing both.

  2. Heartbreaking photos; thank you for sharing them. We need to be reminded.
